Hi,
I am having trouble installing the 32bit version of Matlab. I am on a Surface X (Microsoft) and therefore the 2015 version is the latest compatible version. When I download it and run the exe it does not allow me to save it under any folder, I get the message "please specify a valid location" for installing the file. How do I fix this?
Thanks,
Martin

Do you start the installer with admin privileges?

Hello @Martin, I understand from your question that you are encountering issues while installing the 32-bit version of MATLAB on your Surface X, specifically receiving the "please specify a valid location" message, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
Run the installer as an administrator: Right-click on the MATLAB installer executable (the .exe file) and choose "Run as administrator" from the context menu. This will ensure that the installer has the necessary permissions to write files to the specified location.
1. Choose a different installation directory: Instead of specifying a custom folder for installation, try installing MATLAB to the default installation directory. During the installation process, when prompted to select an installation folder, choose the default location suggested by the installer rather than specifying a custom folder.
2. Check for sufficient disk space: Ensure that you have enough free disk space on your Surface X to accommodate the MATLAB installation. If your disk is nearly full, it may cause issues during the installation process. Free up some space if necessary before attempting the installation again.
3. Disable any antivirus or security software temporarily: Sometimes, antivirus or security software can interfere with the installation process. Temporarily disable any such software on your Surface X and try running the MATLAB installer again.
By following these steps, you should be able to install the 32-bit version of MATLAB on your Surface X successfully.
I hope this helps you. Let me know if you have any further questions!
