What is this question asking???

Question: Evaluate (g(x)/x+1)′′ (2). Note the 2 is plugged in here!
I already have this code: diff(g(x)/(x+1),2)
But I am not sure what to do with the (2)?

Ask the person who gave you the assignment. It could just be clarifying that the (") meant the second derivative.
(EDIT)
Also, it could be asking you to evaluate it at 2.
Or it could be a secret code to the class spy.
Or it could be that whoever typed it actually intended that it be (42).
Or it could be a typo.
Or it could be a numerical Rorschach Test, and is anything you want it to be.

Maybe the (2) is just the equation number along the right hand side of the paper. If so, you can ignore it. Otherwise, upload a scanned photo of what you're looking at.
