Hello,
"The circuit schematics appear to be fine; however, it seems that some of the component values may need adjustment. Could you please make the following changes to your model?"
- Open the property block for “diode” model.
- Configure the properties as shown in below figure. Repeat this for both the diodes.
- Open the property configuration dialog box for “capacitor” model and change the values as shown in below figure. (NOTE: The value of capacitor chosen primarily depends upon the permissible voltage ripple in the output voltage waveform.) And, the value of both the capacitors should be equal.
- In this case, I have taken 1 milli-faraday value.
- Change the value of load resistance to R = 10kΩ.
- Open the “configuration Parameters” under “model settings” tab. Do the changes as shown in below figure :
The model was simulated and following observations were made.
Below given figure shows the output voltage observed at scope. We can see an output voltage of around 18.4 v, which is almost double than that of peak input voltage. We have used two diodes with a forward drop of 0.8v each. Therefore, 1.6v is dropped across both the diodes and we are getting 18.4v instead of 20v. please refer to the attached link to learn more about the operation of the Villard circuit.
I hope this resolves the issue!
