Ran in:
Yes, it extracts the terms on column 3 and rows 1 and 2 of b.
Example
b = magic(5)
b = 5×5
17 24 1 8 15 23 5 7 14 16 4 6 13 20 22 10 12 19 21 3 11 18 25 2 9
b(1:2,3)
ans = 2×1
1 7
