Will MathWorks recompile R2012a for 64-bit OS?

1 view (last 30 days)
Any chance MathWorks would consider releasing a 64-bit version of R2012a?
I'm looking for a functional version of Matlab without the ribbon interface. It doesn't have to have any recently-added features; the 2012 version is more than adequate. It just has to run in a 64-bit Windows or Linux.
If this is not going to happen, would MathWorks at least consider adding a menu bar option above the ribbons?

I would say no chance that they're going to resurrect 10 year old code and recompile it and release it. How big do you think the market is for such a product (a product without all of the improvments to functions and new functions added over the past 10 years)? You'll just have to keep using your 10 year old version forever if you hate the tool ribbon that much.

We'll see. When we hired Mathworks for consulting, they were suprisingly responsive to our needs.
I've been using Octave instead--better interface, and similar to the old Matlab. It's fine for small problems, but a bit slow for big serious number crunching. I still hold my nose and use Matlab for that.
