Hi there, I want to install a Matlab 2012b on my Mi Mac, however, it does not install. I learned that I should install java 6 instead of 8, but my Mac won't let me do that. I it possible at all to install 2012b on m1, is there a workaround. Thanks.

There was no M1 CPU 9 years ago when your version r2012b of MATLAB was built. So it's not surprising. Please upgrade.

This is not a problem of Java version, although it might be a factor, if it were not that MATLAB is not compiled to run on that CPU. So the real limiting factor is the CPU, and nothing will fix that The only solution is to upgrade to a new enough release of MATLAB. Since Apple silicon has only been around very recently, you will be limited in which releases can run there.
On the hardware requirements page for the MAC...
We see that Apple silicon systems will be supported for versions R2020b, update 3 or later. R2012b is far too old.

Thanks also for your comment john! At least now i know for sure I'm a dinasaur..
I've been forced to upgrade my hardware at times in the past to keep pace with software changes. I guess it sometimes also works the other way around.
As far as being a dinosaur, I know that feeling far too often these days. I prefer to think of myself as a bird though, so just a non-extinct dinosaur.
haha, that the spirit to pull us through these coming days of joy and darkness.
