Graphical window problem in remote Matlab, using ssh and screen.

Hello,
I connect from my home computer to a remote computer via ssh -Y. And I have a screen session where I am running Matlab.
In order to see the graphical windows, in matlab I set the right environment variable:
setenv('DISPLAY',':10.0')
In order order to test if it works. I use:
!xeyes
And it works. but when I try to create a figure, nothing displays.
If I restart matlab, the figures do show.
Is there a way to show figures without restarting matlab in the screen session?
Many thanks
