AT, AijT= Aji. The jith entry of A is the ijth entry of i.
For example,
A =
1 2
3 4
>> A'
ans =
1 3
2 4
When is A = AT? That is, when is the transpose of a matrix equal to itself?

A matrix is its own transpose when it is symmetric around the main diagonal. In the case of the 2 x 2 matrix, A12 would have to equal A21
