Call a Software with Matlab

Hi :) I am planning to call a simulation software with matlab and run some files which are in a folder with that software, change the setup of simulation with matlab code and save results. Is is possible? if yes how can I change setup ? Thanks a lot :) Fati

If you want to run an external software, ActiveX is the best way. MATLAB makes a Component Object Model of whatever software you want to use, and its features(functions and parameters) are available as calls to APIs/CLIs. I have used it for a many external tools such as Excel, DeweSoft, CANalyzer etc..

If you look at the code in xlswrite, you'll see a good example of the ActiveX method interfacing with excel.
Command line stuff uses commands that look like:
!dir "C:\Windows\"
I can't show you a good example of DDE methods, but the commands can be found as links from
doc ddeinit
