FYI, MATLAB Coder and Simulink Coder was just released for Student Version in R2016a. Check out the following link (scroll to the bottom to see the products listed in the Code Generation area):

Sorry, no, the Student Version license can never have MATLAB Coder or Simulink Coder (or MATLAB Compiler).
There are some kinds of code that can be generated anyhow, such as for a couple of the robot systems.
What kind of device are you trying to generate code for?

R2016a Student does not have Embedded Coder, but it did add MATLAB Coder and Simulink Coder.

I am writing a control code in visual C++ on desktop, I want to interface to a simulation in Simulink.

From what I understand, you can include you C++ code into Simulink as C-MEX S-Function. Product-wise this only needs MATLAB, Simulink and a C Compiler (there is always a support one that is free of charge)
