The function 'fitmpgcurve' fits a curve for gas mileage as a function of vehicle speed (assuming power losses are due to wind & rolling resistance as well as friction) given gas mileage values as user input (constant) speeds. The function 'plotperturbedmpgcurve' allows you to explore the effect of changing the effects of wind resistance, rolling resistance, friction and idle speed have on your vehicle's gas mileage: e.g. what would happen to gas mileage as a function of speed, if a flat tire increased rolling resistance. Example data for a 2018 Subaru Impreza are included. 'fitmpgcurve' uses the 'lsqnonlin' function in the Optimization Toolbox for non-linear, least squares curve fitting.
