The wireless local area network (WLAN) implies all the IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/p/ac/ax standards for high-speed, secure, and reliable wireless network connections for indoor and outdoor applications. The WLAN data rate has increased from 52 Mbps of 802.11a to 14 Gbps by 802.11ax. The signal modulation commonly used in the WLAN’s physical layer (PHY) is OFDM. The essential function in the WLAN’s media access control layer (MAC) is the carrier sense multiple access and collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) scheme. In this video, we briefly introduce a Simulink model for a wireless network with OFDM PHY and CSMA/CA MAC. The PHY modeling complies with 802.11a, and the MAC modeling implements the CSMA/CA function.
