Simulation tool to calculate LCOH of water electrolysis

The Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH) simulation tool for water electrolyzers is designed as an interactive and user-friendly platform that enables users to assess the impact of various technical, economic, and operational parameters on hydrogen production costs with minimal effort.
Default parameter values based on literature sources and engineering assumptions are provided; however, these values can be modified according to the user's requirements.
Users can upload renewable energy generation profiles and/or electricity price profiles in CSV or XLSX format. This functionality enables site-specific and time-series-based analyses, providing greater flexibility than many existing LCOH calculation tools.
Battery, compression, hydrogen storage, and oxygen by-product revenues are not included in the current version of the tool.
Installation
  1. MATLAB should be installed on the computer for users to be able to open the tool.
  2. Download the Interactive_Simulation_Tool_of_LCOH.m from the releases page.
  3. Double click on Interactive_Simulation_Tool_of_LCOH.m to open the simulation tool.
User manual
  1. Double-click on Interactive_Simulation_Tool_of_LCOH.m to open the simulation tool.
  2. In MATLAB, select the Editor tab and click Run to launch the application.
  3. Wait for the graphical user interface (GUI) window to open. Default input values are provided and can be modified as required.
  4. Enter the required input parameters and upload the necessary input data files according to the selected scenario. Default values based on literature sources are provided and may be modified as needed.
  5. Click Run Simulation to execute the calculations.
  6. Review the simulation results displayed in the results table and the LCOH cost breakdown graph.
  7. To perform a new analysis, click Reset Inputs to clear all input parameters and upload data files before starting a new simulation.
