Hear me hum the G major (offkey!) and use pitchwatch to view the pitch keys displayed from the lowest key A0 to the highest key C8. Check out the link at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piano_key_frequencies for more information about pitch keys. By the way, G major is a major scale based on G, consisting of the pitches G, A, B, C, D, E, F# and G (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G_major). The pitch calculation is based on the AMDF-fractional pitch period determination. The function is designed to operate optimally at the sampling rate of 8000Hz; nevertheless, you may adjust the window size (wlen) to suit your pitch watching needs.
Pitchwatch is best used with Speech Snipper at https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/11002. Have a fun time getting your pitch right! :)
