The alveolar gas equation predicts alveolar oxygen pressure based on the partial pressure of oxygen in inhaled air and the partial pressure of carbon dioxide in arterial blood.
This interactive tool proposes to investigate the influence of different parameters on the Oxygen partial pressure. And graphically link it to the blood Oxygen saturation. You can set the Fraction of inspired Oxygen, The atmospheric pressure, the partial pressure od CO2 and the respiratory quotient. The partial pressure of oxygen is then linked to oxy-hemoglobin dissociation curve. Three cases are modelled, shift left ( e.g., increase PH), physiological, shift right (e.g.,decrease PH).
