I'm in the process of writing an image alignment algorithm, and I cannot seem to figure out how to use the edge detection feature without returning a binary image. I've searched multiple forums, but I still can't seem to find an answer. Is there a step I'm missing?
example code:
A = imread('cameraman');
B = edge(A);
imshow(B)
How do I make this a gradient and not binary?

You'll want to use the IMGRADIENT function.
