Change position of exponent of y axis in figure

Hey,
I am wondering if there is a possibility to change the position of the exponent of the y axis in a figure.
In my case the " x10³ " or so is placed on the right side of the axis where it is interfering with the figure title (which is a little long).
But I havent found the handle to place it on the left side of the axis. TickDir='out' only changes the lines of the ticks but not the placement of the exponent.
If there is a way to do this, please let me know.

ax = gca
ax.YAxis.Exponent = 0
Use axis handle as above to remove the exponent and use standard notation

You can reduce the font size of title to fit inside the box dimensions and not overlap with axes
