ACTIVATING MATLAB FROM OLD TO NEW TRIAL STUDENT LICENCE

Can i just use the activateMATLAB.exe to activate my old licence to a new one without having to dowmload the installer once again since the products listed are all the same? if yes,
How long does it take untill MATLAB is activated?
