Installing a new version when you already have the license of the previous version, but not the activation key

I have a licensed version of matlab 2018b. I want to upgrade it to 2020a. My college has provided me that license. I have the license number and the license file, but not the activation key. My mathworks account is not linked to the license. Every time I try to link it, it asks me to contact the administrator.( Probably the IT department of my college). I'm really sure they're there (corona ). Is there any way to activate it?
