Update TAH License on Personal Laptop Before Expiration

Hello,

My R2017b MATLAB program is giving me the notice below. I tried to update the license within the system, and while that routine says something to the effect of "successfully installed/close and restart MATLAB to remove this message", when I re-open MATLAB the system still displays the same message.

"Your MATLAB license will expire in 10 days. Please contact your system administrator or MathWorks to renew this license."

I also went into MATHWORKS and downloaded the new license file (stated online to be good through May 2019) and added it to the License folder in C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2017b\licenses, but it does not seem to be registering.

Could you help me identify what steps I should take next?
