Is it necessary to re-install RTL-SDR support if I upgrade to latest version?

I am currently running 2016B on Windows 7. The installer for RTL-SDR did not work for this version and I had to get MatLab help to manually install the package. If I upgrade to the current version, will I need to re-install the RTL-SDR support package, and if so has the problem with the installer been fixed or will I have to have MatLab customer support re-install it like last time.

Hello Greg,
The RTL-SDR Support Package is release specific, so upon installing a different release of MATLAB it will be required to install the RTL-SDR Support Package specific to that release.
You should be able to download and install it without any issues using the Add-On Explorer. As of MATLAB R2018a, the installation process has slightly streamlined and some of the Zadig steps should be removed.
For the problem you experienced installing the Support Package for version R2016b, this issue has been fixed as of MATLAB R2017b. If you are installing the support package for version R2017a or earlier, please refer to the following Bug Report regarding the issue you experienced previously: https://www.mathworks.com/support/bugreports/1741173
Regards,
Joe
