Read Array Data from Rosbag file

I have a ROS bag file which has recorded data at each iteration as a row, these are coefficients of an estimated equation so it makes sense to group them in this manner. In ROS I can use rosplay and see all of these coefficients changing so I am happy that the log file contains the data I want to see.
When I try and load this data into matlab using the ros tools it doesn't pick up the dimension information and I just end up with a single array of zeros.
Any ideas

Hello Paul,
What message type is it that contains the data? If it is a custom message, you'll need to go through the ROS Custom Message workflow for MATLAB to be able to read them.
Otherwise, do you have an example small bag file, or a similar bag you've had issues with online somewhere?
