Why is there no DAQ Toolbox for the MacOS environment?

I'd really like to be able to use my MacOS version of MATLAB R2016a with any of the commercially available USB DAQ modules. Am I missing something? Does that capability exist and I'm just uninformed?

NI does not provide drivers for their NI-DAQmx for OS-X, only for MS Windows and Linux.

NI is not the only vendor providing USB DAQ modules. I guess it's a chicken and egg argument. If there were a toolkit available for MATLAB the DAQ OEMs might make the device. Many DAQ modules use very simple SCPI commands.

When I look at the list of supported devices, I see
  • National Instruments devices
  • two very specific devices, one listed under "analog devices" and the other listed under manufacturer but listing only a single supported device
  • Soundcards being run with Windows DirectSound drivers
With DirectSound not being available for OS-X, and with NI not providing OS-X support, that would leave two devices as supported, which hardly seems creating a toolbox for.
But if the goal is to use SCPI compatible devices, then see the Instrument Control Toolbox, which is supported on OS-X and Linux.
