How do I set MATLAB's default GUI font, currently it is set to be large whitespace

As you can see in the image I am having a problem where Matlab is rendering its GUI with a font that seems to just be large whitespace. I can still type in the command line, but all the menu options are filled with whitespace. I can get to the preferences menu, but can't edit anything because it all appears with whitespace. I believe the problem would be fixed if I could set Matlabs default GUI font to something different. I'm running KDE plasma on archlinux, and can definetely edit a config file or something if need be. Also, my matlab is installed in /opt instead of the default location because matlab runs into issues with texlive. Any help would be great thanks.

Archlinux is not officially supported by MATLAB.
Try on supported platform.
