I have a Matlab Function block that takes a while to generate code when I execute my simulation. When I change some stuff outside of the Matlab Function, Simulink still wants to recompile that function block but I know nothing has changed inside of it nor does it depend on any changes that would affect its code. Is it possible to prevent Simulink from recompiling that Matlab Function block so I can save time on tuning my model?

If you can put your MATLAB function block inside Model reference and use the if any changes detected option mentioned here - http://www.mathworks.com/help/simulink/gui/model-referencing-pane.html
Then it should be possible to avoid recompiling every time.
