6 views (last 30 days)
Hi guys!! i want to prove whether my test values behave like uniform distribution or not. Do you know if i can proove this with probplot? In documentation there are informations about normal etc. Or Is there another solution ?

If you have the Statistics and Machine Learning Toolbox, I would use the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test to make this determination.
Here is an example of making a probability distribution object for the uniform distribution (in this case, in the domain [0 1], which is the default) and then testing some sample data:
x = rand(1000,1);
pd = makedist('uniform');
[h,p] = kstest(x,'cdf',pd);

why use kstest as opposed to chi2gof?

Sorry for the delayed response.
There are typically several tests one can use for this sort of thing. For me, the chi-square test usually springs to mind for categorical data, where the binning procedure is well suited.
This is not to say that it doesn't work here as well. I'm not a statistician, and can't really argue strongly one way or the other.
