hello how rand function works to create random chromosomes or random solutions. i am working on image demosaicing and want to create interpolated pixels by using rand function.

Explain more. I don't know what a "random chromosome" is in regards to an image. I also don't know how you'd demosaic an image using the rand() function. I've only heard of it being done with a deterministic algorithm, not random locations.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mersenne_Twister describes the algorithm used for the default random number generator in MATLAB (in all releases for a number of years now, but it was different before.)
However, knowing how the random number generator works is not going to help you. All you need to know about it for your purpose is that it generates values that are statistically equivalent to random for all purposes that you are likely to use, together with the fact that the sequence is repeatable if you use the same "seed".
Perhaps you want to look at ga()
