The posted thread mentions R2015a, but nothing about R2014a. Can someone confirm all commonly used toolboxes' smooth operation in R2014a running on windows 10? My computer will upgrade from Windows7 to Windows10 within 3 days. Thanks!

The linked article is valid for all releases. In general, MATLAB releases are only compatible with operating systems listed as supported platforms. In the past MathWorks has sometimes back qualified releases for more current OS, but this is nothing I recommend you planning for.
Also: As MATLAB is as you know a very powerful piece of software and users to a lot of creative things with it, "fully compatible" is a bold statement. What in real life will happen is that some users will feeedback everything is fine, some report issues. And after while the dust settles and one can make a statement.
