From what MATLAB version can max() return linear indices?

max() can return linear indices, but when was this capability introduced? I can't seem to find it in the version history.

From the official documentation, R2019a was the version when this syntax was first introduced - https://in.mathworks.com/help/releases/R2019a/matlab/ref/max.html.
The syntax is not present in the documentation for R2018b - https://in.mathworks.com/help/releases/R2018b/matlab/ref/max.html

Nice! I haven’t been able to find the old documentations online. Thank you!

You can access them from here - https://in.mathworks.com/help/doc-archives.html
However, as you can see from the webpage linked above, TMW only hosts the documentation of releases published in the last 5 years online. If you need documentation for older releases, you will have to contact TMW support.
