Disabling Alt Gr shortcuts

Hi, I recently switched from Ubuntu to gentoo and I have quite an issue withe the Alt Gr key on Matlab R2014b. I frequently use this key since I use a ch_fr keyboard for brackets and so on. The keys work, but it also activates the shortcut menu which means that I have to hit Alt Gr again to exit the menu, which is really annoying. Is there a way to turn this behavior off? there is a similar thread here : http://ch.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/142360-altgr-enables-shortcut-mode-like-alt-on-linux but since it's pretty old I thought I'd open a new one. thanks in advance,
Samuel

answer found on superuser.com for the same question :
type :
com.mathworks.desktop.mnemonics.MnemonicsManagers.get.disable
in the command window (feels good to press AlgGr again)
You can also put this command in a startup.m file so it gets executed automatically.
