Quarter Car Model Suspension: over-damping not working as expected?

4 views (last 30 days)
We have a 2DOF quarter car model designed in simulink. It seems to work as expected until we attempt to over-damp/critically-damp the system by setting suspension damping constant very high.
We would expect a typical overdamped response with a long rise time and no overshoot but instead we get extremely long settling time and lots of overshoot.
Any explanations for why this might be happening?
Cheers, Jason

We need more details:
- What equations did you implement? (Can share the model somewhere?)
- What is the amplitude of the displacement?
- What solver are you using? (I would go with variable step, stiff, like ode15s)

Check the model once again,or model it again 80% sure that there is some error in the model from experience
