equation fitting and plotting

I have 5 x axis values and 5 y axis values..
now i want to fit the equation
f(x)=a*(x^b - 2^b)
after that i have to plot the 5 data points which i did like plot(x,y)
now i have to plot my fitted function also on the same plot and it should be a smooth curve.
please help me..

Did you consider the use of curve fitting tool?
cftool
On the command window, type:
doc cftool
You'll be given some examples similar to your problem.

the fitting function are part of the curve fitting tool. If you don't have it, you have to code the fitting algorithm yourself.

when i am using cftool it is fitting fine but giving totally wrong values of the parameters
