Can MATLAB 2007a be installed on a Windows 8.1 x64 PC (HP Envy Notebook) from a CD? Is a different installation process needed?

Installing from a CD, the right screens seem to come up, but when I enter the Personal License Password (PLP) and click "Next," the installation just "dies," ie, nothing happens. I waited several minutes and clicked on "Next" several times. I tried it twice--same response both times. I thought it might have completed and did not display the completion properly, so I tried "MATLAB" at the Run prompt and the response was that MATLAB was not found. I do not believe the installation completed. I am also concerned because I previously installed MATLAB using this CD and PLP on a Dell PC which was running Windows XP in 2008. The installation was flawless, however, the Dell PC hard drive failed in November 2013 and I replaced the Dell with the HP Envy Notebook running Windows 8.1. I do not know if there is a re-use issue with the PLP, but this is possibly a factor.

I would recommend calling MathWorks install. They will be able to help you with this. You may using the same key on multiple machines.
