Design of a Monopolar LCC-HVDC Transmission System

A Simulink-based model of a 12-pulse monopolar Line-Commutated Converter (LCC) HVDC system, featuring constant current and extinction angle

You are now following this Submission

This project provides a comprehensive Simulink model for a Monopolar LCC-HVDC transmission system. The model is designed to demonstrate the fundamental operating principles of line-commutated converters using thyristor-based 12-pulse bridges.Key Features :
  • Topology: 12-pulse Bridge (Star-Star and Star-Delta transformer configurations) to minimize AC side harmonics.
  • Control Strategy:
  • Rectifier: Constant Current (CC) control to maintain stable DC power flow.
  • Inverter: Constant Extinction Angle and Constant Voltage control to prevent commutation failure.
  • Performance: Capable of simulating steady-state power transfer and transient responses to AC side faults.
