Design and Simulation of Dual-Stage 200 kW Charging System

200 kW dual-stage EV charger with AFE rectifier (400 V, 50 Hz) charges a 100 kWh battery via buck-boost converter at max 2C rate.

This MATLAB/Simulink model simulates a 200kW dual-stage electric vehicle (EV) charging system. The system includes an Active Front End (AFE) rectifier connected to a 400V, 50Hz AC grid and a synchronous buck-boost DC/DC converter charging a 100kWh battery. The battery supports a maximum charge/discharge rate of 2C. The simulation includes detailed modeling of passive components (LCL filter, DC-link capacitor), power switches, and control strategies. Both constant current and constant voltage control modes are implemented. The package also contains waveform plots of AC-side current/voltage and DC-link dynamics. A cascaded controller is designed using bode blots which is detailed in a design report attached to the simulation package.
