battery electrical model on simulink

3 views (last 30 days)
Hi guys, I have a problem with the master thesis in engineering, I have to develop the electric model of a battery; on simulink it is already implemented (it is present in versions from 2009 onwards), it leaves writing "battery" in the help. The professor then asked me to understand how this model is implemented. Therefore I do "show under mask" on the block of the battery, and then I click twice on the block Model continuous .. But believe me, it is a tangle of wires .. and despite having read something in literature on electric batteries I can not understand how it has implemented the equations ... some of you more practical than me could explain me it piece by piece and the equations used? I shall be eternally grateful! Let me know soon please ... Dr. Nello Rosano

Are you looking for a lead-acid or lithium battery? I assume you mean lead-acid which is a Simscape demo (ssc_lead_acid_battery) from R2009b. There's also a new lithium battery in R2012b, but it's also on MATLAB central for R2010b.
To start, I would take a look at the publications (and webinars?) that describe the equivalent circuit. They are linked from these entries:
Lithium Battery Model, Simscape Language and Simulink Design Optimization http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/36019
Automotive Electrical System Simulation and Control (lead-acid) http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/25674
If you have more questions, you can go through the "contact author" in those MATLAB central entries.
