Writing a MIDI file with the Audio System Toolbox

How can we write midi files given a sequence of notes and durations (and volumes)? From what I see in the Audio System Toolbox MIDI documentation, real-time operation is possible, but writing a midi file is not mentioned.

In particular i have a list of midi messages and I would like to use it to write a midi file.
