Naive Bayes predict is very slow

NB takes 31.629455 seconds to classify a 1000 sample, 6 dimensional testing set. Why is it so rapid to train while the prediction time is so high? Is the prediction time dependent on the distribution of the data (which doesn't make sense to me, because once a distribution has been decided and support/width figured out, it's simply a forward pass through the formulae)?
