Hello everyone, I have just one simple query can I make the Synchronous Machine Round rotor model run both as generator as well as motor ??

Currently I am working on a project in which I need to make a synchronous machine run as generator and motor, if appropriate control methodology is applied can it be done i.e. is that block capable of functioning as a motor and deriving power from stator side to drive its shaft ??

Hi @Yash,
Yes, this is possible. A synchronous machine can likely operate as both a motor and a generator. The block itself supports both modes. The actual mode depends on how it is controlled and the direction of power flow.
When electrical power is supplied to the stator, the machine produces torque and drives the shaft. In this case, it operates as a motor. When mechanical torque is applied to the shaft and electrical power flows out through the stator, it operates as a generator.
With the correct control strategy for excitation and torque, the same machine can smoothly switch between motor and generator operation.
I hope this helps!

Thanks @Adarsh for clearing the doubt, could you tell if I can do a damper winding start of synchronous machine on this model.
