How to decide order for fir1 band pass filter. Is there any methodology on which basis I can finalize the order to be considered for filter creation.

I want to filter acceleration data between specific frequency band using FIR band pass filter. I am not sure how to decide order for "fir1" bandpass filter.

Request explanation on this.

If I were you I would start to compute the spectrum or spectrogram first and then decide by how much I want to reduce the low and high frequencies

otherwise how would you make a decision about corner frequencies , filter type and order ?

I usually use kaiserord when I design FIR filters. It calculates the appropriate order as one if its outputs.
