Interesting idea, but I doubt it would work. For compressors, the flow runs through and pressure increases, while for turbines, the flow runs in the direction where pressure drops.
I tried this quickly using default parameters for the centrifugal compressor (IL) block. A pressure differential between the two ports, whichever one is higher, doesn't seem to generate any mechanical power output :(
