Why do I receive "First Chance Exceptions" in the Microsoft Visual Studio debugger when I run my application which uses a MATLAB Compiler generated library?

I am using the Microsoft Visual Studio debugger. I am building an application which uses a MATLAB Compiler generated library. When I run my application from the debugger, the message region fills with up to several hundred messages of the form:
First chance exception in ....
The application runs to completion correctly despite the messages however.

This is the expected behavior. The Microsoft Visual Studio debugger displays information about first-chance exceptions, which do not necessarily indicate an error. For applications / components which handle exceptions gracefully, first chance exception messages let the developer know that an exceptional situation was encountered and was handled.
