JV Technologies develops testing solutions for automotive manufacturing environments, where electronic products must be validated using communication protocols such as serial, Modbus®, TCP/IP, CAN, and LIN. As the company expanded its visual inspection capabilities, it needed a workflow that could combine device communication, image-based anomaly detection, and deployment on the manufacturing line within a single solution.
To address this challenge, JV Technologies developed an end-to-end testing workflow by integrating MATLAB® and Python®. The team began development in MATLAB and incorporated Python scripts directly into the MATLAB environment, enabling them to access Python’s LIN communication capabilities from MATLAB applications. Using this approach, they implemented a LIN-based testing system for automotive manufacturing applications, including lamps, ECUs, infotainment systems, windshield wipers, and other production-line components.
The workflow also supports camera-based visual inspection. In one application, images captured on the production line are analyzed to detect anomalies in vehicle lamp indicators, including low-beam and high-beam functions. Using capabilities from Image Processing Toolbox™ and Computer Vision Toolbox™, the team combined image analysis, visual inspection, and LIN communication within a single App Designer–based interface. To simplify deployment, JV Technologies packaged the solution as a standalone application that operators can use on manufacturing and assembly lines across a range of testing scenarios.
