Since its original appearance in 1997, Numerical Linear Algebra has been a leading textbook in its field, used in universities around the world. It is noted for its 40 lecture-sized short chapters and its clear and inviting style. Each lecture is built around one or two central topics, emphasizing the unity between ideas. One unusual aspect of this book is that it begins with QR factorization rather than Gaussian elimination, to provide a more solid and easier-to-understand foundation for the subsequent lectures. The last part of the book is devoted to iterative methods. It is reissued here with a new foreword by James Nagy and a new afterword by Yuji Nakatsukasa about subsequent developments.
MATLAB is introduced and used to solve examples in the book.
