Rapid Prototyping-Based Design for an Aerospace Application
Vaishali Kowshik, UTC Aerospace Systems
Ajay Mishra, UTC Aerospace Systems
This presentation illustrates the implementation of control law for an aerospace application, specifically landing gear controls. The controller needed to be available early to perform testing of the actual system to identify and eliminate risk from the program using the “fail early” concept.
Previous programs adopted a conventional software design approach using C. However, requirements for the new landing gear system were continuously emerging, leading to the high probability of multiple changes during prototype testing. With the conventional design approach, each of these iterations requires a very long turnaround time. To stay abreast of the current trend in control design and to enable faster iterations, Model-Based Design was adopted for the first time.
