Restore saved axes settings?

After over 25 years of Matlab experience I still do not understand the function of the "Restore saved axes settings" button in a Simulink scope.

If I add a scope to a new model and open the scope, the axis setting is -5...5. I simulate and the axis setting remains -5...5. I press the "Save current axes settings" button to save the current axes settings (-5...5). I press the Autoscale button and the axis setting becomes -1...1.

Now I press the "Restore saved axes settings" button, expecting the axis setting to become the saved axes setting (-5...5). Instead, the axis setting remains -1...1.

What is the "Restore saved axes settings" button good for?
