This scripts perform a bioacoustic signal segmentation in batch mode or in incremental mode, using the energy of the signal and the zero crossing rate. We share two version, 1) using just the energy, and 2) using both, the energy and the zero crossing rate. It is an version of which was published in (please cite!):

An incremental technique for real-time bioacoustic signal segmentation.

The windows size, the overlap and the thresholds are parameters that may be tuned. The extracted syllables are stored in a cell 'syllables'. In the incremental version the parameters alpha and the thresholds may be tuned.
