How to recover an unfinished answer?

How can I recover an unfinished answer that dissappeared after an errant keystroke?

I think it was the delete or backspace key.

I ended up back at the list of Question Topics.

Unfortunately there is no facility for this.

If you are using Firefox or Chrome, you can use the Lazarus Forms Recovery extension to your browser. It has saved my sanity here more than once.

I second this answer. I also use Lazarus and it's save me many times too, on other sites. Usually my problem is I type something then I go over to my mouse but my thumb hits the side "Back" button on my 9 button mouse. Luckily Answers will prompt you to leave or stay. But anyway, Lazarus saves everything you type into edit boxes for around the last 20 forms, so you can easily get back anything you typed in the last 20 times or so.

My Firefox restores a lot of forms without Lazarus, e.g. when I hit the Back button.

Where is this button located? Is there a windoze internet explorer equivalent?

@Greg: Do you mean the "Back" button?? It is the large left arrow on the top of all browsers I know.

Jan, with my Firefox, if I start a comment, type in some stuff, then click a bookmark and go there, it does not ask me if I want to leave the page, nor when I click the back button does it return to the Answers page with the comment edit box open and my text still typed in there. Try it, and let us know.
