Hi, i am having a seriously annoying problem in Matlab of some of the Matlab figures changing into Data files. I can no longer open some of my Matlab figures and this means i have i regenerate all those figures. Each time i click on the affected Fig files, i get a dialogue box that asks me to import data to the workspace instead of me seeing a Figure graphic object. Whats causing this problem? I am really frustrated!

This is something that started giving me problems today. Matlab has been working fine on my machine all this time, and i didnt have any problems working with Figures. Please note,, some Figures can open and some can not. I noticed this problem after changing the Figure line properties and saving the changes. After saving the changes, the file stopped opening as a Figure but rather as a data file.

I have the same problem (after saving changes) and know many more people having it... you spend 2 hours in a figure, you save it, then is lost :-/
I found that in R2011a and R2011b, if you click on "Save As" in the File menu, it offers to save the file as a .JPEG by default, maybe this is related...
Also found another thread reporting the same (unanswered) from mars 2010... http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/newsreader/view_thread/276269 so the problem is old... and apparently unsolved... :(
