I tried opening my mathlab and it wont open says something about java error

Thank, I have actually re-installed it but the problem persists, I even called apple tech support to see if they could help but they said I should contact the application developer (mathworks)

You have installed MATLAB R2014a or earlier on Yosemite or El Capitan. You need a patch.

its a MATLAB R2013a. I am doing an El Capitan update and would also look at the link you posted to see if it works. Thank you so much

R2013a is one of the versions that needs the patch for Yosemite or El Capitan.
